About a pubis lift (mound of Venus correction)
A pubic lift involves removing excess fat and/or skin from the pubic area. This results in a tighter, more natural contour, greater comfort when wearing clothes and moving, and an increase in self-confidence.
- The pubic lift costs €1,900. If general anaesthesia is desired, additional costs apply. This will be discussed during your consultation.
- Often because of excess skin or fat in the pubic area, discomfort during exercise or intimate moments, insecurity about their appearance, or the wish for a firmer lower abdomen.
- The recovery time is 1 to 6 weeks. For the first 1 to 2 weeks it is important to rest. You are advised to avoid sport and strenuous exertion for approx. 4 weeks. After 6 weeks you will in all likelihood have recovered.
- At Boerhaave, a pubic lift is performed by experienced plastic surgeons with an eye for safety, quality and a natural result. You can count on personal guidance and comprehensive aftercare, so that you know where you stand throughout the entire treatment process.
Here's how the treatment works
Here you will find all the important information about this treatment, from the consultation and the treatment itself to follow-up care, the results, and potential risks.
What is a pubic lift?
A pubic lift, also known as monsplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure in which excess fat and/or skin is removed from the pubic area (mons pubis). Due to aging, weight fluctuations, or after pregnancy, this area may begin to bulge or sag. This can cause both physical discomfort and self-consciousness, for example, when wearing tight clothing or during intimate moments.A pubic lift restores a natural, tighter contour to the area. The procedure can be performed on its own or in combination with other treatments, such as a tummy tuck or liposuction.
Why a pubic lift?
A pubic lift is chosen for the following reasons:- Excess skin or fat deposits in the pubic area
- Discomfort during movement, exercise, or intimate moments
- Self-consciousness about the appearance of the area
- A desire for a more symmetrical and firmer lower abdomen
Combination with other treatments
A pubic lift is often combined withotherprocedures, such as:- Liposuction of the lower abdomen or upper thighs
- Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
- Labiaplasty, if desired
This depends on your body type and goals, and will be carefully discussed during the consultation.
A Renuvion treatment can also be combined with other procedures, such as a mini-tummy tuck or a full tummy tuck.
The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia for small areas, while larger treatment areas are performed under general anesthesia. Our plastic surgeons will carefully assess which approach is best for you. After the procedure, you will receive a compression garment tailored to the specific body area, which must be worn for at least 4 weeks.
The result of the Renuvion treatment is tighter skin and improved contours, with long-lasting effects due to the stimulation of collagen production for up to 9 months after the procedure.

Plastic Surgeon
The consultation always takes place with the plastic surgeon who will be treating you. During this initial consultation, you can explain what bothers you most about your body and what you would like to change. Together with your plastic surgeon, you will discuss your wishes and the specific areas in front of the mirror. Based on this, the surgeon will propose the surgical technique best suited for you and discuss it with you. In front of the mirror, the surgeon will explain what this technique entails and what you can expect in terms of the final result. The plastic surgeon will then show you before-and-after photos of procedures he or she has performed. This will give you an idea of the possible results. At the end, your consultation will be summarized in a treatment plan, and the total costs will be discussed with you immediately. This will allow you to make an informed decision.

Consultant
Following your initial consultation with your plastic surgeon, you’ll have a conversation (by phone) with your consultant. The purpose of this conversation is to inform you about matters that need to be arranged regarding your liposuction. This ensures you’re well prepared for your treatment.BMI
When you undergo general anesthesia during surgery, it is important that the procedure proceeds safely. For this reason, you should be at a healthy weight. Would you like to know if you are at a healthy weight?Calculate your BMI here. The BMI (Body Mass Index) indicates whether your weight is healthy in relation to your height.
The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the situation and your preference. During the procedure, the plastic surgeon makes a small horizontal incision just above the pubic bone. Depending on the situation, excess fat is removed (possibly via liposuction), after which excess skin is also excised. The skin is then tightened and neatly sutured.
The procedure takes an average of 1 to 1.5 hours. Afterward, if you’ve had general anesthesia, you’ll remain in our clinic for a few hours for observation.
Combination with an Abdominoplasty
A pubic lift is often combined with an abdominoplasty —especially for people who have lost a significant amount of weight or, after pregnancy, are experiencing both excess skin on the abdomen and a sagging or enlarged pubic area (mons pubis).During a tummy tuck, excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomen, and the abdominal muscles are tightened where necessary. In many cases, it therefore makes sense to include the area directly below the abdomen—the pubic region—in the procedure, so that the entire area is harmonious and appears firm.
Benefits of combining this procedure with a tummy tuck:
-
One surgery, one recovery period
-
A more aesthetically pleasing overall result (smooth transition between the abdomen and pubic area)
-
Prevents the mons pubis from becoming more noticeable after the tummy tuck
-
Lower risk of skin folds or scar tightness
During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will assess whether combining both procedures is advisable, based on your body type, skin elasticity, and your personal preferences. Often, the pubic lift is then automatically included in the surgical plan for the tummy tuck.
Combination with Liposuction
In many cases, a pubic lift is combined with liposuction of the pubic region or surrounding areas, such as the lower abdomen or groin.By combining liposuction with a pubic lift:
-
more definition is created in the pubic area
-
The skin canlie more tightly over the underlying area
-
You’ll achieve a smoother transition between the abdomen, pubic area, and upper thighs
-
Is the procedure less invasive than simply removing skin when dealing with larger volumes of fat
During the operation, the plastic surgeon can determine very precisely where additional contouring is needed. Often, even a small amount of liposuction is enough to make the difference between a good result and a stunning one.
When is liposuction appropriate for a pubic lift?
-
In cases of a thicker, protruding mons pubis
-
When skin quality is good but there is too much subcutaneous fat
-
If you’ve previously had a tummy tuck, but the pubic area still remains “full”
-
After the procedure, you can expect some swelling, bruising, and a tight feeling in the treated area. This is normal and usually subsides within 2 to 3 weeks. We recommend:
-
To rest for 1 to 2 weeks
-
Temporarily avoid strenuous physical activity and sports (approx. 4 weeks)
-
Full recovery: approximately 6 weeks
Recovery after a pubic lift combined with a tummy tuck
When a pubic lift is combined with atummy tuck, the recovery is more intensive than with a standalone pubic lift, but the advantage is that you only have one surgical procedure and one recovery period. In the first few days after the procedure, you may experience:
-
Swelling and tenderness in the lower abdomen and pubic area
-
A feeling of tightness due to the skin being pulled tight
-
Difficulty walking completely upright (especially in the first 5–7 days)
-
A slight pulling sensation in the scar area
-
Compression garments are essential to prevent fluid buildup and support skin healing. You’ll typically wear these for 4 to 6 weeks, as advised by your doctor.
Recovery after a pubic lift combined with liposuction
When a pubic lift is combined with liposuction, recovery is generally a bit more sensitive than with a pubic lift alone, but it’s still manageable. Liposuction causes trauma to the subcutaneous tissue, which may result in slightly more swelling, stiffness, or bruising in the treated area during the first few days. What to expect during recovery:
-
Swelling and bruising are normal and may spread to surrounding areas, such as the lower abdomen or upper thighs. This will gradually subside after about 2 to 3 weeks.
-
Sensitivity or numbness in the treated area is common, especially in the first few weeks after liposuction.
-
You may experience a slight soreness or burning sensation in the skin, which is particularly noticeable when moving.
-
Compression garments are essential to prevent fluid buildup and support skin healing. You’ll typically wear them for 4 to 6 weeks, as advised by your doctor.
Scar cream
The scar is small and usually heals to be neat and inconspicuous, as it lies within a natural skin crease. The plastic surgeon does everything possible to ensure the scars are barely visible.During your first follow-up visit with us, you’ll be given a scar care cream to take home. Once the wound has closed and the scabs have fallen off, you may begin applying the scar cream. By applying it to the closed wound twice a day, you’ll increase the chances of a good healing outcome. It’s helpful to know that a scar takes one to one and a half years to fully settle. That’s why it’s important to keep your scars out of the sun and to always apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to your skin during the first year.
-
A pubic lift creates a tighter and smoother contour of the pubic area. After the procedure, this area appears less swollen or saggy and blends more seamlessly with the contour of the lower abdomen. Many patients find that their clothes fit better, intimate moments become more comfortable, and their self-confidence increases—especially when wearing swimwear or lingerie.
The results are already somewhat visible immediately after the procedure, but the final effect only becomes apparent once the swelling has completely subsided. This usually takes between 6 and 12 weeks. Scars fade in the months following treatment and often become very subtle, especially if they are properly cared for.
The results are long-lasting, especially if you maintain a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle. Although the natural aging process continues, the treated area will remain firmer than it was before the procedure.
It is important to remember that any surgical procedure can involve risks and complications. Plastic surgery generally involves healthy individuals, so the risks and likelihood of complications are low. Through thorough counseling, a complete medical history, and our professional approach, we minimize these risks to an absolute minimum.
You can reduce certain risks by carefully following the instructions you have been given.
Possible complications may include:
-
Adverse reaction to the anesthesia
-
Postoperative bleeding (this may require a repeat surgery)
-
Infection
-
Changes in sensation
-
Permanent visible scars
-
Damage to underlying structures
-
Unsatisfactory aesthetic result
-
Irregularities
Smoking
Patients who smoke or use tobacco or nicotine products at the time of surgery are at a higher risk of complications, such as skin necrosis and impaired wound healing. In addition, smoking can have a negative effect on anesthesia, potentially resulting in an increased risk of bleeding. It is important to stop smoking at least four weeks before the procedure and to continue abstaining throughout the entire recovery process. It is important to note that people exposed to secondhand smoke may also face a potentially increased risk of similar complications. People who are not exposed to tobacco smoke or nicotine-containing products have a significantly lower risk of complications.
